REFINERY OVERVIEW

The Ferndale Refinery is located in Ferndale, WA which is located on Puget Sound, about 20 miles south of the U.S. - Canada border. The refinery processes about 105,000 barrels per day of oil and is a high conversion facility allowing optimized utilization of feedstock. The refinery includes Clean Gasoline and Ultra-Low Sulfur Diesel units providing emissions friendly products to meet today's stringent standards. Providing a safe and environmentally responsible workplace as well as having a positive impact on the local communities are management priorities. Operations are run 24 hours per day, seven days per week.

Description

Laboratory Technicians perform a variety of analysis and tests of refinery products, process streams and environmental samples in a technically complex, highly automated refinery laboratory. Technicians work a rotating day/evening schedule including weekends. Technicians are responsible for maintaining and operating the equipment used in testing and analysis. Salary commensurate with experience.

Responsibilities

The Laboratory Technician may be responsible for:


* Performing various quality assurance and quality control tests on product/process samples according to written procedures.
* Entering data using lab information management system.
* Interpreting data and determining validity of results.
* Running QA/QC charts on testing performed.
* Occasionally required to work outdoors exposed to weather elements; some lifting is required.
* Know and observe safe work practices, including wearing personal protective equipment.
* Performing routine maintenance on laboratory equipment.

Relocation package is not available for this position.

Qualifications

Basic/Required Qualifications

* To read technical procedures and materials in English

Preferred Qualifications

* Bachelor's degree in Chemistry or related field.
* 3 years direct experience in a refinery and/or chemical industry.
* Ability to learn and perform all procedures used in a Quality Control Lab for product testing.
* Skillful in oral/written communications and in working with teams.
* Computer proficiency

Overview:

The successful candidate performs a variety of skilled technical work in configuration, maintenance, repair and troubleshooting of telecommunications physical, data link and network layer systems and associated equipment. Duties are performed in a highly customer orientated organization, where the exercise of excellent customer service, teamwork and relations is paramount. The successful candidate operates, monitors, and services multiple communications devices in voice, data, and specialty networks. The successful candidate will diagnose and test voice and network infrastructure. The successful candidate must be able to perform unsupervised installations, conduct independent system level trouble shooting, be proficient with many telecom systems and be able to work remotely as a service center agent.
Position Details: Key Job Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:

•Maintains, configures, installs, trouble shoots carrier systems e.g. microwave, radio, satellite, fiber, and cable systems, including all related equipment for switching, directing, and accessing bandwidth, e.g. DACS, Channel Banks, Multiplexers (handing OC3, DS3, TI, ATM, Frame relay), Drop and Insert DSU’s, IMUX equipment, etc.

•Maintains, configures, installs, and troubleshoots data link layer equipment and systems that provide connectivity across ISO layers, 1,2 & 3, e. g. media converters, Ethernet switches/bridges, routers, firewalls, PIX boxes, and the “data side” of wireless devices.

•Maintains, configures, and troubleshoots PBX systems and associated technologies e.g. voicemail, DTI’s, PRI’s, CDR, OPX’s (including those over microwave, or DRT, or VoiP, etc.)

•Shares responsibility for successful end-to-end delivery, and restoration of business applications (including OSI SCADA and Pipeline SCADA) dependent upon the telecom infrastructure by:
•Holistic trouble shooting in liaison with personnel familiar with application levels
•Having the knowledge and ability to dynamically prioritize service restoration to minimize impacts to safety and the business
•Careful attention to change management and communication
•Working in concert with Telecom Analysts, other IT Professionals, SCADA analysts, etc. in the planning and execution of projects

•Functions as a Chevron representative with outside service providers, or contactors, as appropriate, to facilitate the installation, provisioning or restoration of systems or services of a technical nature, including taking technical leadership in factually resolving finger pointing between service providers.

Required (Basic) Qualifications:
•High School Degree or equivalent
•Minimum five years of related experience
•Understands design elements of LAN, WAN, Wireless Networks, Voice Systems, Entertainment TV, Two-way Radio Systems, Microwave Systems, Satellite Systems, Telecommunications Power Systems, and Telephony
•Demonstrates ability to develop technical specifications and scopes of work for major Capital Projects

Preferred Qualifications:
•Associates degree in Electronics or Information Technology
•Knowledge of a diverse set of telecommunications technologies and their application to Chevron businesses
•Exhibits basic understanding of Chevron Information Protection policies, routing layers/protocols, IP addressing, subnets, QoS, performance monitoring, VPN, Firewalls, and Process Control Networks

Responsibilities:
As part of a multi-discipline maintenance team your aim is to achieve technical integrity, reliability and availability targets at Fife NGL
Shell has a strong safety culture and your role will include the safe planning and execution of work through our Integrated Safe System Of Work permit application and adherence to Fife NGL’s rigorous safety procedures.
You’ll be responsible for the planning and execution of routine preventative and corrective maintenance for all rotating and static mechanical equipment.
Updating and reviewing department procedures including the recording of work history in the SAP Plant Maintenance system, you’ll also execute maintenance strategies and implement maintenance improvement plans which contribute to reduced unit costs and improved profitability.

Requirements:
With an NVQ Level 3 in Engineering and Maintenance, you'll be computer literate, with proven experience in a mechanical maintenance role.

This position will require the successful candidate to relocate to Mossmorran, Fife for the duration of the assignment, if not already resident there.
